About SFIC

Mission: The San Francisco Immunization Coalition was founded in 1996 and is comprised of diverse public and private interests whose mission is to achieve full immunization protection for each child and adult in San Francisco in order to promote community health and prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases.

Priorities:
• Continually provide objective, science-based, immunization education for parents, child care, and community service providers in San Francisco.
 

• Introduce San Francisco immunization providers to the California Immunization Registry to improve the precision by which they administer and track vaccines improving the safety and efficacy of immunization.
 

• Reduce child immunization protection disparities through targeted outreach activities to parents of Latino, African-American, and foreign-born children living in San Francisco neighborhoods.
 

• Focus on increasing immunization protection for adults to reduce vaccine-preventable illnesses like influenza, hepatitis, pneumonia, pertussis, hpv, and meningitis.
 

Funding: The Coalition recieves funds from local, State government sources, as well as, from private foundations, community health partners, and fundraising events. The Coalition does not accept direct operational, educational, or personnel funding from pharmaceutical companies.
 

Community Partners: The Coalition partners with many private, public, and nonprofit organizations to accomplish our mission. These partners include vaccine manufacturers and health care providers. The philosophy of the Coalition is simply to bring together diverse interests to make immunizations more effective and safer for all San Franciscans.
