It is with great pleasure that I formally introduce myself. I accepted the position as Director of the San Francisco Immunization Coalition on November 1, 2002. I have a broad career and educational background with a mix of business and public health. I have had experience as an educator, economist, reporter, caseworker, human services program coordinator, video producer, public information representative, music performer and producer.

I believe strongly in the mission and objectives of the San Francisco Immunization Coalition. Recent events (the development of new vaccines, continuing questions around autism and vaccines, a focus on immunization disparities based on race, immunization registries, etc.) have made the Coalitionís mission more relevant than ever. I believe that we have a vital role in filling the many existing health and educational gaps with regards to immunization. We are uniquely positioned to tackle issues that neither public nor private health care entities can address on their own. The future of our health care system and the improvement of our communitiesí health in general depend on community collaboratives like the San Francisco Immunization Coalition.

It is by wisely harnessing the energy, talent, creativity and diversity of its members that an organization thrives. I anticipate an exciting future for the Coalition and invite whoever is reading this to get involved and help us profoundly improve the immunization infrastructure, achieve maximum immunization protection, and continually increase the safety/efficacy of vaccines to significantly improve the health of all San Franciscans.
